2018 Camera Shopping in Hong Kong with Mr.David Chan

Hello everyone and welcome to my first Throwback-Flashback video series on my Youtube channel. I'm sitting on at least 50 videos that I've shot but never edited. I've decided to start posting them, perhaps one video per month. The first one will be my April 18th 2018 visit to Champagne Court in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. It was my second last day in Hong Kong and I decided to drop by and say good-bye to Mr.David Chan and Billy. Please enjoy.

The 1st Sony Mirrorless Camera I Want To Buy: The Sony A7C

\

This is my first Sony camera review on my Youtube channel. I know, it took this long. I've never had anything against Sony cameras, since I'm in the Sony A-mount DSLR ecosystem. However, I've never tested their mirrorless E-mount system for my Youtube channel. Enjoy the video.

Fujifilm X-S10: First Shooting Impressions

This is my first shooting impressions video with the new Fujifilm X-S10 compact ILC mirrorless body. Having IBIS, a fully articulating screen and a deep grip makes this camera a vlogger, videographer and content creator's dream. Check out my first impressions as I test out a pre-production unit. Thanks for watching and happy shooting!

Sony A7C vs Fuji X-S10 for Vlogging. Which is Better?

This is my latest video testing the vlogging capabilities of the latest compact mirrorless bodies from Fujifilm and Sony. I was very impressed with the Sony, especially the FE 20mm f/1.8G prime lens. Below are the affiliate links to the gear mentioned in the video:

What's In My Bag From 1998-2000!

I remember my epic trip to Japan in the year 2000. I made sure all my camera gear, film and accessories were just perfect for this vacation with Camera Girl. In fact, I still have most of the gear from that era, so I'm excited to share this very special "What's in My Bag" video from 1998-2000. Since we're on the subject of old camera gear, who better to sponsor this video than KEH Camera. Who's KEH? They are one of the original camera re-commerce companies, buying and selling rare and quality second hand cameras. KEH has been contributing to the photography community since 1979 and are experts in their field. They have committed to sponsoring one video per month on my channel, so I'll be making camera-centric videos just for you. Let me know if you have any questions about the gear I featured, don't forget to like, and let me know what you want to see next. Thanks To KEH for your support! Please use the affiliate links below if you wish to either buy or sell your used camera gear. BHT Live: Let's Talk About Photography... and Gear.

This is going to be my first scheduled weekly Youtube Live Show. I asked my audience when would be the best time to join and Thursday evening at 6pm PST was the most popular so I thought this would be a good starting point. Let's see what happens.

Latest Article for Fujilove Magazine: The New X-S10

The latest camera from Fujifilm, and perhaps the last one for 2020 is the all new X-S10. It is basically the previous X-T30 with a fully articulating screen, IBIS, and a large grip. If you're an X-T30 owner, this may be the perfect upgrade, with some caveats.

Latest Article for Fujilove Magazine: Street Photography from Inside My Vehicle II

I continue my night series of photographing from inside my vehicle during this pandemic. I started doing this back in March when we were told to avoid contact with others due to the pandemic. I've been doing this for 9 months now and I think I'm getting the hang of it. Read my full article here on Fujilove:

Fujifilm XF50mm f/1.0 R WR: Bokeh King or Fine Art Lens?

This is my full review on the new Fujifilm XF50mm f/1.0 R WR. It's a big, heavy, sharp, quirky and expensive lens meant for a very narrowly focused photographer. I'd love to own a copy myself, but I need to do more push-ups before I'm ready. Enjoy the video!

Talking Head Video Test at F/1.0: Fujifilm XF50mm F/1.0 R WR

This is just a quick talking head (and feet) focus test using the new Fujifilm XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR lens. It did a decent job. Next time I would set the AF Range Limiter instead of the Face-Eye Detect. Other than that, the lens and camera did a good job.

Latest article on Fujilove: Fujifilm XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR Fuji-Noct.

In my latest article of Fujilove Magazine, I take a look at the brand new Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR lens. I didn't think I would enjoy shooting with this lens due to the size and weight, but the IQ and rendering of this f/1.0 lens won me over. Check out there article here:

My Latest Article for Fujilove: The Battle of the X-Series

The first article of the month for Fujilove Magazine October 1, 2020. In this article I compare the price-performance-features of the X-T4, X-T3 and X-Pro3. The big difference from my past articles where I compare cameras is that the X-T3 had a dramatic $500 USD price drop. This means the X-T3 + XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR kit is now $1499, the previous price of the body alone and $200 cheaper than the X-T4 body only. Although you get IBIS, the new battery system and fully articulating screen of the X-T4, is it worth $700 more to you? Check out my latest article and find out for yourself

New Youtube Video on the Nifty Fifty: Viltrox AF 33mm F/1.4 for X Mount

I decided to post a Youtube video on the Viltrox AF 33mm f/1.4 XF as a complement to my recent Fujilove article, for those who would rather watch me talk while waving my arms as a form of communication versus using typed words :-)

Review: The Viltrox AF 33mm f/1.4 for Fujifilm X Mount

Check out my latest article for Fujilove Magazine on the Viltrox 33mm f/1.4 for Fujifilm X mount. Overall I was pleased with the price-performance from this third party lens and was surprised how smooth and accurate the STM step motor autofocus was. The extra bonus is EXIF data communication between the lens and camera body, something that's often missing with third party lenses or using lens adapters. If you have any thoughts please leave comments at Fujilove and not here. Talk to you again soon, and remember to follow me on Twitter and Instagram

Bigheadtaco Presents: Vlogging Hurts Ep 01

My new series on Youtube called 'Vlogging Hurts'. Let's see how long this lasts. I don't mind shooting videos, I just don't like the process of editing them afterwards, especially vlogs. Too many small bits and pieces to worry about, plus adding music and titles and special effects. Ugh. In the end I'm happy once I'm finished, but stress about making my next one. I know I've been in a bit of a video slump so I thought this would be a good video to finish since I shot this almost 2 months ago!! Thanks for watching everyone and talk to you soon.

Best Value Wireless Microphone System for Youtubers: Comica BoomX-U U2

Hello everyone, this is my latest review on my Youtube channel. I do an unboxing and first impressions test of the new Comica BoomX-U U2 wireless microphone system. For $219 USD you get a 2 transmitter system, which is pretty unique at this price point. Like the Rode Wireless Go, the transmitters also have built in microphones, but the kit includes 2 lav microphones as well. It's a decent kit at a really good price point. Check out the video below

My Latest Article For Fujilove Magazine

I'm sure many of you know I write twice a month for Fujilove Magazine. The founder of the magazine and X Photographer Tomasz Trzebiatowski is a very smart and savvy photographer. He approached me 5 years ago when he first started the magazine and asked if I would like to join his writing team. Since then I've submitted at least once a month for the past 5 years. I've also produced some videos for him, we started a podcast (currently in hiatus) and we're looking forward to conducting some destination photography workshops in the near future. Here is my latest article for Fujilove with links below:

Let's Talk About Vlogging: Interview with PIXERF Singapore

I was recently invited by Pixerf to participate in their Pixerf Talks program. They interview various photographers, videographers and social media practitioners from around the world to see how we work in our field. We both had to compromise the interview time since we are so far apart. Their start time of 9pm is a bit late for a live Facebook interview, but that works out to 6am Vancouver time, which is way too early for me. I decided to sleep in my studio and wake up at 5am so I could be ready on time. Please enjoy the interview.

How to Clean Your Fujifilm Camera on FujiLove's Youtube Channel

FujiLove Magazine asked me to do a video on how to clean your camera. This seems pretty basic, but there are some who are new to photography and don't really know what to use and how to clean their cameras and lenses. I showcase some products from Cura Japan, but most optical non-alcoholic cleaner and microfibre cleaning wipes will do. For those who are interested, you can purchase Cura Japan cleaning products from Camera Film Photo in Hong Kong with a 15% discount until the end of July 2020 with discount code: ilovetaco. I didn't pick the code, but I do think it's funny. Thanks for watching and don't forget to 'like' the video to show your support for me. If you want to see more videos like this, leave a comment in the video. Thanks everyone.

Fujifilm X100V Quick Review

Hello everyone,

Here is my first impressions video on the new Fujifilm X100V. This camera is a winner. Almost 10 years since it's announcement, the X100 series has slowly evolved into a very competent and desirable camera. Even if you own the most advanced DSLR or mirrorless ILC, you probably still want an X100V as your vacation or 'inspiration' camera. The latest improvements with an articling screen and weather-sealing has made this camera even better than the previous X100F. Watch my latest video as I go over the pros, cons and comparisons with the X-Pro3, X100F, Leica Q and the GFX 50S!!

Hello everyone,

Long time no talk. I hope you are all taking care of yourselves wherever you are in the world. I've been doing okay, but I don't have much to complain about. I received a brand new limited edition strap from my friends at Camera Film Photo so I decided to do an unboxing video. I also decided to talk about straps in general. If this is the type of content you wish to see more of, please let me know on the Youtube comment section, on Instagram or on Twitter. Thanks for watching guys and we'll see you again soon.

Fujifilm X100V: Bigheadtaco Talking Head Video Test

If you've watched my Youtube channel or a while, you know I've used the X100F at times to shoot some of my videos. The autofocus was never good enough, so I've had to shoot the video in manual focus mode. When the new X100V came out, the first thing I wanted to test was it's autofocus capabilities not only in stills mode, but video. I think this little camera did a great job. The key to great video with this camera is to use an external monitor as well as an external microphone to isolate the autofocus lens noise. Check out the video and let me know what you think. Thanks for visiting and happy shooting!!

Unboxing: Chrome Industries Bags + Shoes

As I mentioned in a previous post, I'll be doing more bags and accessories reviews since I get asked a lot of questions about my support gear for my photography. The number 1 (or 2) accessory is camera bags, along with camera straps. Although Chrome is not a camera bag company, I enjoy the aesthetics of their bags and often use their bags as my EDC. So if you're interested in Chrome Industries, check out my latest unboxing video. If not, you can move on...

Leica SL2: First Shooting Impressions

Hello everyone and welcome to my latest review, the new Leica SL2. My original Leica SL review may have been the reason why you first discovered my Youtube channel. Unlike many who trashed it, I really really enjoyed shooting with the original odd-ball SL. I knew it would be a hit with existing Leica photographers with plenty of M mount lenses. Version 2 has improved on the already great EVF and LCD, and they've installed their latest 47MP sensor with IBIS. Watch the video for my initial thoughts, but this review is far from complete. I rushed to finish this video as I had to quickly travel to Hong Kong and Japan for work. I've come back and will continue reviewing the SL2 and come back to you with my full thoughts on this new camera. Thanks for watching and happy shooting!!

Recap Video: HONG KONG 2020

Hello everyone, I'm back from Hong Kong and this is my overview video of the entire trip. I did make one quick visit to Okinawa, but other than that, the rest of the time was spent in Hong Kong. I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but that's okay. I tend to try and get too much done anyway. I was able to shoot lots of film, and I spent as much time as I could with Vishal from Camera Film Photo. Hopefully I'll be back in a couple of months to start printing my upcoming zine. Thanks for all your support and we'll talk to you soon. Happy shooting!!
